Our Wedding

Our wedding did not turn out exactly like we hoped it would, but it also turned out just perfect. It was supposed to rain in the morning, and clear up by the time the ceremony started. It happened exactly opposite of that! No rain all morning, and then it poured right before everything was supposed to begin. We did not let a little rain ruin our special day though, and hey, if the sayings are right, we will have TONS of good luck :) I think everyone had a good time regardless of the weather. I am just happy we were able to spend the night with our close friends and family to celebrate our marriage! That was the most important part! Here are some of my favorite pictures from the day:

Before and After: Master Bathroom

When we bought our house, we knew that there was a chance we would have an open vanity area in the master bedroom/bathroom. The neighborhoods we were mostly looking at are older, and that is just how most of the houses are designed. I was pretty picky about it, and told Will that the rest of the house would have to be pretty darn perfect for me to buy a house with an open vanity... and we would have to be able to put up a wall. We thought about putting up the wall ourselves, but decided to go with the professionals for this one. We are so pleased with the results, and know it will help with the resale of our home in the future.

Here is what it looked like before the wall was put up:

Sorry for the weird lighting our lights put off.

In a way, it was nice that it was open, lots of space, more lighting, made the bedroom and bathroom open and feel bigger. But it wasn't worth it to keep it open, especially with the ugly tiles that we still need to replace.

It took about a day and a half for them to put up and paint the wall. It turned out SO great.

Here are a few during pictures:

And here is the finished result. We love it!

The thing we were most worried about was if it was going to make our room seem smaller and enclosed, but it doesn't at all!

Next project will be replacing the floors in both upstairs bathrooms! I just need to convince Will that we need to do that this summer :)

Hope everyone has a great week! We got our wedding pictures today, so my next few blog posts will be about our wedding!!

House Tour

Well, we have been in our house for almost 4 months now, and I have really neglected this blog! We aren't anywhere near finished with house projects, but the downstairs of our house is pretty much done. I just have a few small things I would like to do, mostly decorative though. I thought it would be a good time to start a house tour of our downstairs. Sorry for the terrible pictures, it wasn't very sunny, and I had to turn on the lights to brighten the rooms.

Next week, we are starting our master bedroom/bathroom project. Hopefully it won't take me two months to post about that :) Hope you enjoyed our little house tour!

This next month is going to be crazy busy! I also know it will fly by. Less than one month until I get to marry my best friend!!

Hope you all have a great week!

Money grows on trees, right?

Well what do you know... another crazy, busy weekend! So happy today was a holiday off work, and for once, someone else is doing the work around here. Our floors are in the process of being installed today!

We spent the entire weekend up to our necks in projects. Our first task was to get the vinyl flooring in the kitchen up.We thought this would be a pretty easy task, wrong! It was a two day project and at least 3 trips to Lowe's to get what we needed to complete it. Let's just say, the internet is wrong when it tells you that dish soap and water will get up the adhesive left from the vinyl floors.

After we got the floors taken care of, we realized that if we wanted a new dishwasher, we should probably install that before our new floors were put in. So we did a little research, and headed to Best Buy and then Home Depot to see which one had the best deal. We found one that we liked at Home Depot, but they couldn't deliver it until Wednesday the 22nd, and our floors will be finished on Tuesday. That wouldn't work, so we decided to see what Sears Outlet had. We were in luck! They had a super nice dishwasher, still in the box for $200 less than the regular sale price. So we borrowed a truck and Will installed it himself that afternoon!

 Goodbye crappy old dishwasher!

Have I told you how awesome he is?

Hello pretty new dishwasher!

While we were waiting to pay for our dishwasher, I was looking at the scratch and dent refrigerators, and found one that looked brand new and I didn't see anything wrong with it. I showed Will, and we decided to look it up when we got home to see if it was a good deal. Turns out it really was, so we ended up going back to Sears Outlet a few hours later to buy it. We found out it has the tiniest dent on the side panel, but I am talking the size of a pea dent, so we weren't bothered by it. We bought it for less than half of the normal sales price! You know you are an adult when you are this excited over appliances :)

Terrible picture I took at the store

On Sunday Will uninstalled the toilet in the downstairs bathroom to prep for the new flooring. If anyone needs a handyman, just call Will, he can do just about anything!

Taking out all the water... yuck

The final big project for the weekend was installing the shelves and clothes drying bar above the washer and dryer. I swear I helped with some of these projects!

Finished result! (Sorry for the crooked picture!)

The next garage project is going to be getting pedestals for the washer and dryer to hide those ugly wires, and of course to save my back!

One of the mornings, Will assembled the guest bedroom bed, and I was finally able to make the bed and have that ready.

We are ready for our first guests!

And the best and final part of the weekend, getting our floor installation process started!

Of course something had to go wrong, and our floors ended up not being level, so after  extra cost and time to our installation, they leveled it, and the floors will be laid tomorrow!

I cannot tell you how excited I am to see our new floors, and mostly to have furniture and kitchen appliances downstairs, and to start decorating! No more eating dinners on the kitchen countertops!

Classy, right...?

Next weekend, we are taking a break from projects to just enjoy and relax in our new home! We also have our cake tasting appointment to look forward to! Hope everyone has a fantastic week!

Busy Weekend

What a busy, yet accomplished weekend! (I started this post Sunday night, and now it is Wednesday, sorry!) I am so happy that we knocked a lot of things off of our to-do list. I think we went to Lowe's at least 8 times this weekend. You know you've been there a lot, when a guy who works there says, "back again?!" :)

Friday night we spent the evening celebrating one of my oldest friend's Birthday. She and her mom made the most delicious dinner, and it was so fun spending time relaxing and eating with great company. While she went out after dinner to celebrate with some other friends, Will and I headed to Wal-Mart to buy paint (Lowe's was already closed at that time, haha). We bought a gallon of white paint and all the supplies to paint the garage. Cedar fever was in full force that day, and was affecting Will pretty bad, so after our Wal-Mart trip, we called it a night.

Saturday morning we woke up bright and early (and I mean 6:30 AM early!!) to get started with painting the back part of the garage. We painted the first coat, and then made a breakfast trip to Ihop.

The garage looked SO much better with just a little paint! So glad we did that! We also sold the old stove that came with the house on Craigslist that afternoon too! That was a relief.

Dezi enjoyed her squirrel hunt in her new backyard :)

After our entire morning/early afternoon painting fun, we met up with my mom and had our catering tasting appointment. Super fun, and we choose all of our wedding food! More on the details of that later.

Sunday, we finally painted the hideous orange/red accent wall in the living room to a pretty neutral darker grey color.

Goodbye ugly paint. Hello pretty new paint!

Much better!!

My mom and I also painted a storage closet, it was a pain, but I am so glad that we did it. It looks so fresh and clean now. No more ugly scuff marks and dingy walls.

My mom snuck a picture when I was in full painting mode... haha

And lastly, we finally got the washer and dryer hooked up! Of course, it wasn't easy... whoever built our house, put the hookups on the wrong sides. We were so worried we'd have to keep them that way, but luckily the hoses reached far enough to switch them! Thank goodness for that! On our never ending list of things to do, we want to do a DIY pedestal for the washer and dryer to sit on. Stay tuned for that!  I could not wait to do a load of laundry in our brand new washer and dryer that night :)

Hope everyone has a great rest of your week!
